Each season had its own special treats, sights, and cozy spots, and I’m here to tell you all the juicy (and chewy!) details of traveling in Europe with your hoomans. Getting Ready for My Euro Adventure
Before I could sniff my way across Europe, I had to get used to my travel crate. My hoomans brought it into their room way before the trip. For a whole month, it became my little cozy nook – and they made sure I knew it was a happy place by giving me treats every time I walked in. Eventually, I started loving my crate so much that by the time we were off to the airport, it felt like my own mini bedroom! I was so comfy, I actually slept right through the flight. No stress, just Zzzs!
Packing the Essentials for a Good Boi
My hoomans packed all my travel must-haves! They brought pee pads for the flights and our hotel stops, plus my usual food to keep my tummy happy. Once we got to Europe, they slowly transitioned me to the new food there over the first week. And of course, they packed my favourite leash, poop bags, water bottle, non-spill bowl, and – best of all – my trusty toy. Let me tell you, having something familiar made it so much easier to settle into each new place.
Paperwork for a Well-Prepared Pup
Now, here’s the official part that every good boi needs: my passport! Yep, I got my very own with all my vaccinations, including a rabies titer test to make sure I was ready to go international. We also needed AVA approval from Singapore and a quick check-up before I could officially start my adventures. But my hoomans (with the help of an agent) took care of all the paperwork, so all I had to do was sit pretty and enjoy the ride!
Flight Day: Off We Go!
On the day of the flight, my hoomans had a plan to make sure I was as comfy as possible. They stopped my food about 12 hours before, gave me a little water, and made sure I was all tuckered out by the time we reached the airport. And guess what? I flew with Lufthansa, who let me travel as “check-in luggage,” which basically meant I got my crate in a cozy, safe spot. By the time we touched down, I was ready to sniff out my new European digs!
Exploring Germany, Austria, and Italy
And then… Europe! We started in Germany, which was pawsitively amazing. From lakes to mountain trails, I got to explore all sorts of terrains. Most of the places we stayed were dog-friendly hotels, so I was treated like royalty. Even restaurants were super welcoming, though some places (like supermarkets and a few parks) asked for my hoomans to keep me outside.
Austria was a whole other level of fun. Snowy mountains, beautiful parks, and so many scents I had never smelled before. And in Italy, the lakes were so clear I could see my reflection – talk about a good-looking pup! Plus, I got to run around near the Alps, enjoying the fresh air and all the green spaces.
Winter vs. Summer Adventures
My two trips were like night and day! Winter 2023 was chilly but magical. My hoomans dressed me in a cozy coat, and I got to run through the snow – which is basically like dog heaven, if you ask me. Summer 2024 was warm, sunny, and perfect for outdoor adventures. I loved splashing around in lakes and rolling in the grass. My paws have officially touched all seasons in Europe now, and I think I love them all equally!
Coming Home and Looking Ahead
Heading back to Singapore was a breeze, especially since Lufthansa helped us with an extra-comfy crate. No quarantine was needed since we had all our paperwork sorted – just a quick health check, and I was back home, ready for belly rubs.
